DIY Privacy Door for Under $10

When we first bought our house,

I really didn't like our front door.

I'd grown up with a solid door

and loved the privacy.

I could walk by or check the door

and no one would know I was there.

Then we bought our new house

and it had a beautiful glass front.

We have a split entry so the only

way to get downstairs is to walk

past the front door.

I hated feeling like I was on "display" 

every moment I was home. 

What if I hadn't done my hair

or put on my makeup yet?

The whole neighborhood would know!

Getting a new door was not an option 

so I covered it with Fake Snow.

The only problem was people bumped it all the time.

It would mess up the window

and they'd leave my house covered in fake snow.

I started shopping for fabric to hang over the windows

and finally found some I liked.

However, as I temporarily hung it over the door,

I realized how dark it made our front entryway.

I'd grown to love that natural light that came in!

Then it hit me!

Why not make frosted glass?!

Privacy? Check. Natural Light? Check. Beautiful? Double check.

I went to our local craft store 

and bought a can of Frosted Spray Paint.

We covered everything in newspaper

and sprayed two coats.

The outcome was even better than I expected!

During the day, I can walk past it without being seen.

At night, you also can't be seen unless you're

right up next to the door.
And even then, it's just a blurred shadow.

It's worked great for us and was so much cheaper

than buying a new door.
